Have Faith

A Glorious Day

Article by Wendy McCance

It’s a gorgeous day out.  The sun is shining, the sky is clear and the birds are singing.  The kids are still sleeping and the house is quiet and peaceful.  As I was sitting on the porch drinking a cup of tea and soaking up the early morning hours, I began to reflect on the path I have travelled in this last year.

This post is not a religious post, but a human post.  Every person at one time or another thinks about the hard work they put into each day when they are trying to fulfill their goals.  Sometimes you hit what you think is a roadblock, or things don’t feel like they are moving as quickly as you want them to.  For anyone who has ever had this feeling, I would just like to say, have faith.

What you aren’t aware of is what is going on behind the scenes.  You might not know who you have touched and who might be thinking of you right now.  You might not know if someone is contemplating reaching out and contacting you.  Your future is and always will be a mystery until a situation presents itself.

I have had so many moments that have caught me off guard, yet have thrilled me immensely.  There have been times that a random person will begin to follow me on Twitter for instance.  I don’t put too much thought into the new follower, and then one day they reach out and mention they would like to work with me.  I have had the same experience with LinkedIn many times.

When I have had these experiences, I always get a message that starts out with the person saying that they have been reading and enjoying my blog for some time.  I never knew they were there.  I hadn’t received comments from them, but suddenly, there they are.  Who knew this was going on in the background?

I have read many stories where people were trying to achieve a goal and felt like all they were doing was spinning their wheels.  My most recent favorite story is about a guy who had sent out a manuscript to dozens of publishing houses with no luck.  This guy could wallpaper a small room with all of the rejection slips he had received.

One day, he got an email from a publisher who loved his work.  It was a publisher he had never contacted.  Turns out, another author saw the story he had sent to one of many publishers.  The story was on the desk of this author’s agent.  The author saw the story and read it.  This author was so taken with the story that he wanted to help the struggling writer.  He knew of another publisher who he thought would love the story the writer had put together.  Sure enough, the publisher loved it, emailed the writer and the book was published.  There was no way for the writer to know what was happening behind the scenes.

As you begin another day, keep in mind that all of that hard work will lead you to success.  You might not see it yet, because the wheels might be turning behind the scenes.  Have faith that all will work out even if you can’t see how it is possible.  You never know who might be interested and is about to reach out.  Your life could change at the most surprising moment like it did for the writer.  When he had hit what he thought was bottom and no longer saw the light, amazing things transformed in front of him.  They will for you too if you stay the course and have faith that all will work out in the end.

Have a spectacular day!!

  1. You’re absolutely correct, Wendy! Faith is the only thing that keeps me pushing to accomplish my goals and dreams as a writer. I like what you said about this not being a religious post, but a human post (I shared this article and that’s exactly what I put in the comments bar!). When I start to get nervous or even a little exasperated with all of my efforts, I remind myself that all of those things (worrying included) indicate I DON’T have faith, as if I don’t believe I can do it?! :( And since I know I feel the opposite of that, I keep on pushing!

Hope your day was amazing! Thanks for sharing! :)

  2. So true, Wendy. We don’t know what lies ahead and how what we’re doing fits into that. It’s what makes life an adventure.

We visited our daughter last weekend and in talking she was reflecting on where they were and what was happening this time last year. They are in a really good place now but then It was a time of stress and uncertainty. I remember what she said to me in looking back - “What a difference a year makes.”

I’ve been reminded of that a couple of times since our visit in wondering what the future holds for me. We all don’t know. We can only do what we’ve been shown and given to do. Your words ring true, “Have faith”.

    • Thanks for sharing your experiences. I’m so happy to hear that your daughter is doing well. Just think what amazing things we might both be experiencing one year from now. It’s exciting to think about all of the possibilities. :)
