Pursue the Dream

Retreat

by Wendy McCance

What’s wrong with you, sitting there looking at an empty screen?
What’s wrong with you, letting fear get in the way of your wildest dreams?
Why do you lack the courage to do…. so many things that you wish for?

Stand back and relax because tomorrow is just another day.
Don’t fear your thoughts but embrace them, let them come alive and dance around in your mind.
Don’t rush to end the endless thread of thoughts that want to stream through your head.

If only I was confident enough to get real tough, I could get a grip on my mind and embrace all of the beauty that lies there.
There is only one goodbye at the end of the line, why go there before you have created your masterpiece?

Stand up and make your way through the fray, fight for what you see.
Go forward, don’t look back, capture that dream and play make believe.

It takes gut to go for the glory.
It takes determination to succeed.
What would I get if I left things unsaid and didn’t push myself  to achieve?

    what do you do
    when your muse refuses
    to cooperate
slinks into a corner and sulks
or sneers at you … “you suck”
    hollows out your insides
    and leaves you in despair?

    what do you do
    to escape the loneliness
    of an empty page
    staring at the same lines
    over and over
    until they disappear
    in a mist of tears?

    what do you do
    when you lose self-belief
think you are not good enough
never were … never will be
    and despite the affirmations
    from your dearest friends
    you wallow in self- pity?

    perhaps you take a walk
    find a peaceful place
to simply be – and reflect
    thank God for creating you
    brush strokes on his canvas
    a composition for his song

    loving you for being perfect
just the way you are …
    yesterday, today and tomorrow.

    perhaps then you can smile
    through your tears of shame
rekindle the fire in your soul

    And understand …
    your muse never leaves you
    He just waits patiently

For you to believe in yourself
to Be … Have … Do!
