Happy New Year! I don’t know about you, but I am excited about this brand new year. 2017 was challenging and I am happy to leave it behind. I am feeling refreshed and focused and ready to dig into a brand new year.
I don’t know if you have noticed, but 2017 was probably my worst year for posting on this blog. When I began writing in 2012, I was posting daily, hell, sometimes more than once a day. Over the past few years as a career in freelance writing and social media management evolved, I continued to post as often as possible (with a goal of posting at least once a week). But, my newfound career began taking up more of my time and by the time I was done working for my clients each day, writing any additional posts wasn’t at the top of my list. I was mentally drained and wasn’t feeling inspired to write about much of anything.
This last year, things changed dramatically. I was still writing for others, but scaled back to tackle a project I have dreamed about since I was a kid. I decided to begin writing a book. In fact, I ended up working on two books (still in progress).
Along the way I have been learning a lot about writing a book, I have found some excellent writing groups and as always, as I learn new things, I tend to come back to this blog and share all I have learned with you.
This year, I will be dedicating time on this blog to writing posts about writing a book. I hope this new information is useful for anyone looking to write a book of their own or for those who can relate as they are going through the process themself.
My hope is to provide information that might be useful in your own writing endeavours so that you may also conquer writing a book. It will also be fantastic to see what discussions will evolve between other writers from the topics discussed.
Can you imagine how amazing it would be if at the end of 2018 there were a bunch of us who could share titles to books we had gotten successfully published (no matter if it was from a publishing house or self-published)? Well, that is my goal! I would love for us to take this ride together and end 2018 with books we have written in hand!
So tell me, what are your goals for 2018? Are you considering writing a book? Have you already begun writing one? Let me know in the comments below. Oh, and if you have any particular questions related to writing a book, please ask. I might know the answer, someone else who is reading the question might know or I might be able to direct you to the person or place where that answer might be found.
Wishing you the very best in 2018. May all your dreams come true this year!
